OneNote for AutoCAD is a free add-in that enables you to take quick notes in Microsoft OneNote alongside your drawings. The notes are backed up to the cloud and you can access them from anywhere. You can see the notes the next time you open the drawing. You can also view your notes from your OneDrive account. They will be present in the “OneNote_AutoCAD” notebook.
This add-in is similar to Revit add-in called Forgify Tools, which allows you take simple notes inside the Revit model. Also, there is free OneNote for Navisworks plugin.
Typical workflow:
- Download and install the free OneNote add-in for AutoCAD.
- In Add-ins tab, click on the App. Login to your Microsoft 365 account. Accept app permission to access your OneDrive where these notes will be stored.
- An OneNote page for your drawing is created. Start taking notes alongside your drawing.
- Notes are automatically synchronized to your OneDrive Cloud and accessible from anywhere.
- Update notes real-time from the Web, App or within AutoCAD.
- Automatically create an unique page for each drawing. As you switch between drawings, the app will open the page for the current drawing, so that your notes are organized. The next time you open a drawing within AutoCAD, the OneNote app will open up the notes you had taken for that drawing.
- Attach your drawing to the note for further collaboration.
