IFC Model Exchange with Archicad for Revit (formerly ARCHICAD Connection for Revit) is an import-export add-in that helps you to exchange data between Archicad and Revit. It is developed by Graphisoft (publisher of Archicad).
The add-in was developed on the basis of the IFC for Revit exporter, which should also be installed to your Revit. Unlike IFC for Revit, this add-in does not replace the standard export interface in IFC format and after installation it appears on the “Add-Ins” tab.
The interface of IFC Model Exchange with Archicad for Revit consists of only a few buttons:
- Improved IFC Import – Use this command to import IFC architectural models created in Archicad.
- Link IFC – This command enables you to add IFC model to your Revit project, but you cannot edit that model in Revit.
- Export to Archicad – Export Revit model to Archicad in IFC format.
- Help – Open PDF user guide.
However, it is more interesting what happens “under the hood”. Here are some of the settings you can find during export and import process:
- Import all IFC parameters as Revit parameters.
- Export elements from selected phase.
- Export 2D annotation elements.
- Export Schedule data in specific IFC property sets.
- Export Family and Type name as Reference property.
- Export parameters as custom-named IFC properties.
- Support import and export to compressed IFC-format (IfcZIP) in addition to the standard IFC file format.
