DPR Model Slicer for Revit is a free add-in to create 3D section views in relation to Levels or Rooms and export them to AutoCAD and Navisworks. Section models by floors and create 3D building sections in your Revit model. Often Revit users model elements, such as walls and columns, as multi-level elements in their design models. This can cause problems later during the construction coordination process. For this reason it is better option to separate building model into the individual floors from the very beginning.

DPR Model Slicer allows you not only to create section views easier, but also to quickly repeat the process on other projects or versions of the model. Typically, section boxes correspond to a building level and gridlines.

Features:

DPR Model Slicer add-in includes 5 commands:

  • Create 3D Sections. This button will access the settings dialog that has two main parts: “3D Section Box” which allows you to specific the extents of your section boxes, and “Visibility Settings” where you define the visibility settings for the section (what objects are shown in that view). This is where all sections will be defined and created. By combining any combination of these two settings, all of the requested 3D sections can be created.
  • Room Sections. Create section boxes around specified rooms in your model.
  • Export Views, Mass export just the views you have created through DPR Model Slicer to DWG, DWF, or NWC (Navisworks) format.
  • Clean Up. Mass delete views and sheets from the model. This can be limited to views created by DPR Model Slicer, or be extended to all Views and Sheets contained within the model.
  • Copy Revit linked file. Copy the Revit linked files.

Typical workflow:

  1. Download and install. Download add-in from Autodesk App Store, install it, and load it into Revit when the Security popup window appears.
  2. Create a new project. Click Edit button in Projects area to create a new DPR Model Slicer project. Just enter the name of the project.
  3. Create 3D section views. Click New button in “3D Section Boxes” area to create a 3D section box. Enter the name of the section box, then specify level boundaries (top and bottom bounds) and elevation offsets. Click “New” in the “Visibility Settings” area to create a visibility filter. Select a 3D section box and visibility setting, then click “Create 3D View” button. The 3D view is created with section box that isolates specific geometry within your model. Click “Save” to save changes to the current project.

What’s new in version 8.4:

  • Support for Revit 2022 and 2023.
