Enhanced DWG Exporter for Revit (EDER-Tool, formerly known as the CAD- and BIM- Standard Tool for Revit) improves the built-in DWG Export and improves the quality of exported DWG files. This free tool from Autodesk improves the quality and the information content of DWG files generated from the Revit model and helps overcome a number of limitations of the built-in DWG Export feature.

The creation of DWG files is a standard feature built into Revit. The feature does not provide a mechanism to allow an application to modify the functionality, as it is possible for the IFC export. There are a number of ways to configure the functionality of the DWG export, but apart from this, the feature can only be used the way it is implemented, therefore the DWG Export built into Revit does not allow to support the creation of DWG files according to a specific CAD Standard.

EDER-Tool support the requirements of – hopefully – any CAD Standard. The tool has been developed to provide a maximum of flexibility. This means that the user can create and modify configurations which support national or company standards which can be used and shared using a network.

EDER-Tool was developed for Autodesk in 2014 by CAD Anwendungen Muigg KG and has been continuously improved since then. Autodesk has transferred the distribution of the Enhanced DWG Editor for Revit (EDER-Tool) to CAD Anwendungen Muigg KG in 2021 to professionalize the development and support of the globally used tool.

Define layer standards. “Break down” a layer into well defined components to make the process of assigning a layer a whole lot easier.
Easy layer assignment.
Support Layer Standards provided by national and international Standardization Organizations or specific company-standards. Special features to support the Austrian ÖNORM A-6241-1.
Blocks with attributes for annotations. “Map” the Revit parameters to attribute tags or use the “automatic” feature so that the tag name is taken from the name of the Revit parameter.
Modify blocks / create blocks-attributes.
Use of “Custom Extenions”.
Coding material information into the layers for walls.
Override “category based” layer assignments.
Use of Revit parameters to define the layer-name.
Create “geo-referenced” DWG files also for Sheets. Standard DWG Export in Revit allows to export geo-referenced DWG files using world coordinates (also called “shared coordinates”) only for views. The EDER-Tool has removed this restriction.
Use of template drawings. Use predefined settings for plot style tables, layers, fonts etc.
