nanoCAD Free is a 2D/3D CAD software that supports DWG/DXF drawing formats. It is free AutoCAD alternative suitable for use in complex projects. Interface is classic, and it resembles very well an older version of AutoCAD. You can freely rearrange the toolbars to create working environment that suits you the best. You can work on models in both 2D and 3D, and create 3D meshes. More experienced users can use command line.
You need to activate licence during the installation. Like DraftSight, nanoCAD Free is very similar to older versions of AutoCAD, both visually and functionally. Also, it has native .dwg support, which makes this software very convenient and practical.
While many free CAD programs are simpler versions of the commercial CAD programs, nanoCAD Free brings full functionality to work with both 2D and 3D objects. There is also paid version with tools that significantly increase productivity, but this version requires the purchase of a license that is renewed annually. In the early days it was nanoCAD Plus, and today it is nanoCAD Platform that includes several modules (3D Modeling, Mechanica, Construction, Raster, Topoplan).
Unlike paid version, nanoCAD Free is an older version of the software which means it was not updated a long time.
