One Click LCA Building Circularity Tool is a cloud-based circular economic tool that provides a mass-based assessment and can be combined with any LCA or LCC tool. There are masses of virgin materials, masses that are renewable, recycled and reused, sources that go into your building and then what is actually coming out when the building is dismantled. The lifespan of a building can be a long time – 50 or 100 years – but we act with the best knowledge that we have today. As an user, you need to know material quantities. The software will give you defaults, which can be either defaults for the material type or the specific values for EPD, but you can adjust all of these values.
The tool’s primary goal is to calculate the circularity percentage of a building. It does not have a mandatory scope and can be used to access single materials or whole buildings. The tool contains reduce-reuse-recycle principle, value preservation principle, design for adaptability and design for disassembly practices.
The tool includes several sections:
- Building material query. Enter data about your materials. You can edit: the percentage of recycled, renewable or reused contents in the materials (some products have default values, based either on the product or the type of product); the construction site wastage for the material; check/uncheck the DfD (Design for Disassembly) and DfA (Design for Adaptability) options if the material meets those practices; EOL (End of Life) process.
- Circularity score weighting factors. Adjust the weighting factors for your materials recovered and materials returned.
- Calculation period. Enter the service life of the building.
- Results page. Visualize and understand your circularity results. You get the Building Circularity score, which is the average from the materials recovered added up to the materials returned.
