What’s new in version 3.6:

  • Simulation nodes. Geonetry Nodes supports simulations. Simulations can be cached or baked to storage.
  • Hardware ray-tracing. Support for hardware ray-tracing acceleration on AMD, Intel Arc and Data Center GPUs, in Cycles.
  • Performance improvements to Cycles. Faster loading of large geometries into Cycles.
  • Improved viewport compositor (introduced in Blender 3.5). Support for more advanced nodes, new features like bicubic interpolation, repetition along a single axis, and support for multi-layer EXR images.
  • New UV packing engine. Improved packing of UV islands. Improved performance on large meshes.
  • New add-on VDM Brush Baker. This add-on simplifies creating vector displacement map brushes in sculpt mode.
  • Grease Pencil weights. New Grease Pencil weight painting tools.
  • Improved file importers. Faster import/export of FBX files. New add-on for importing and exporting of 3DS files. New C++ based PLY importer and exporter.
