DESTINI Estimator is an integrated pre-construction estimating software that allows users to assemble, analyze and report project data in the pre-construction phase. It facilitates better project alignment and decision making. Multiple users can work on the same estimate at the same time. DESTINI Estimator evolved from DESTINI Profiler, an application and platform that generates construction and operating costs on a conceptual-level project.

Filtering, sorting and grouping features allow very quick slicing and dicing of the estimate in the model. Mapping cost and quantities from the model is simple and intuitive. User tie line items and quantities by dragging and dropping quantities from both 2D documents and 3D models into the estimate over the quantity property at the line item. Tying the estimate and takeoff enables visual verification of quantities and seamless data sharing between the estimate and the document driving the quantities.

Update features reduce the time and risk associated with updating the estimate as the design evolved. Estimator provides visual feedback on what’s graphically been modified, added or removed, but more importantly it indicates what the impacts of that change is to the items in the estimate.

DESTINI Estimator outputs can be generated directly from the estimate through both traditional reporting and Excel-based dashboards. DESTINI Estimator can also build a historical cost database using estimator and can then create dashboards and Power BI to filter by WBS and project type. Estimate analysis supports comparison functionality: comparing past projects, previous estimates and project alternatives.

DESTINI Estimator is available in U.S. and Canada. At this time, DESTINI Estimator is not available internationally (outside of the U.S. and Canada).

Integrations

DESTINI Estimator integrates with Procore Financials, Autodesk’s BIM 360, Power BI, Navisworks, Microsoft Excel, and more.

Users can upload estimate data into Procore Financials to serve as a basis for the budget. They can also download documents and drawings from projects in Procore and upload a PDF of their completed takeoff so that teams can be on the same page.

Integration with Autodesk’s BIM 360 platform allows the user to do the quantity takeoff in one platform instead of needing to open multiple pre-construction tools to get the job done.

About 5D BIM

5D BIM is one of the dimensions of BIM that brings benefits to cost managers – whether they’re estimators or quantity surveyors. 5D BIM is about estimation and cost analysis, and it includes cost planning (how much?) and quantity take-off (how many?). You add 4th dimension to your building information model when you add scheduling data to different model components (4D BIM is about scheduling, time and construction). 5D BIM is the next step – you produce accurate cost estimates from the components of the building information model. With these 4th and 5th dimensions added, you can track predicted and actual spend over the course of your project, which is really useful for monthly cost reporting and budgeting.

As 5D BIM refers to a particular way of linking data to a building information model, the quality of the cost estimate is directly linked to the quality of produced model. Not everything in a building information model is going to be right. So BIM managers can get quantities based on model components, but cost managers (estimators or quantity surveyors) are essential for validation. In a BIM process, they are engaged right from the outset and are an equal player in the project team. Quantity surveyors can take quantities directly from design authoring software or they can use specialized software for 5D BIM which are more efficient options.
