Bird Tools – Free NavisExport for Revit (formerly Free NavisExport) is a free add-in to batch export Revit models or specific 3D views to Navisworks NWC files. It supports BIM 360 models as well. A simple user form allows the user to select the models to be exported (whether they are in the same directory or in separate directories, or whether they are hosted on BIM 360 Design) and the output folder. The entire models can be exported automatically, which can save a lot of time. The user can also specify individual 3D views to be exported across several models based on a view name keyword. NWC Export settings can be customized through the user interface.
This add-in requires Navisworks Manage or the Navisworks NWC Export Utility to be installed.
Typical workflow:
- Open Free NavisExport add-in. It can be found under the Bird Tools ribbon tab.
- Select the Revit models to be processed and the output path for the NWC files. Revit models can be selected from several directories, or from BIM 360 (Revit 2019+).
- Customize the export options through the checkboxes of the user interface. Settings, such as exporting linked models, converting element properties or materials are among the settings that the user can specify. The entire model can be exported, or specific 3D views based on a view name keyword. All the 3D views can be selected by leaving the textbox empty.
- Click “Proceed” to start the process. Every file being processed will be highlighted in blue, and after the export operation completes successfully, the file will be highlighted in green. In case of failure, the file will be highlighted in red.
- The user will be notified when the entire process is complete.
Note: New “current model” mode has been added as of version 2.0.0 to enable the users to export views in a model that is currently opened and activated. In older versions the tool only operated when all documents are closed.
What’s new in version 4.0:
- Support for Revit 2024.
- Export NWC files to BIM 360 and the ACC through a new destination picker.
- Light and dark mode (based on Revit’s theme).
- Support for both cached and non-cached BIM 360 and ACC models.
- Power by Forge (a.k.a APS).
