Chaos Phoenix for 3ds Max is a dynamic simulator designed for creating realistic simulations of fluids such as liquids and gases. Create simulations of water, coffee, honey, fire, smoke, which interact with their environment.

It includes support for Rigid Body Dynamics, allowing for the simulation of objects interacting with fluid environments. The software comes with a variety of presets for common setups, providing a starting point for simulations.

One of the standout features of Phoenix is its free rendering capability, making it a cost-effective solution for high-quality visualizations. It’s compatible with various renderers, including V-Ray, Corona, Octane, and Scanline. Phoenix seamlessly integrates with other features and tools within the 3ds Max environment.

Whether you’re creating visual effects for movies, architectural visualizations, game assets, advertising or just exploring the world of fluid dynamics, Chaos Phoenix for 3ds Max is a valuable tool. Beside this version of Phoenix, there is also version for Autodesk Maya.

Features:

  • Liquids, foam, and splash simulations: Enables the creation of realistic liquid simulations, enhancing the visual quality of scenes.
  • Smoke, fire, and explosions: Allows for the generation of various fire and smoke effects, crucial for creating dramatic and impactful visual effects.
  • Interactive simulations: Offers the ability to fine-tune simulations interactively, providing immediate visual feedback and facilitating iterative design processes.
  • Custom emission sources: Supports a wide range of emission sources, providing flexibility in the creation of simulations.
  • Vorticity and turbulence: These features enable the simulation of complex fluid behaviors, contributing to the realism of the simulations.
  • Particles: The ability to render particles as various elements adds detail and depth to simulations.
  • Import/export mesh and particles: Facilitates interoperability with other software, enhancing workflow efficiency.
  • Ocean and beach waves, Infinite ocean: These features allow for the seamless transition from detailed ocean surface simulations to infinite ocean waves, useful for large-scale environmental simulations.
  • Optimized rendering: Ensures high-quality output of photoreal fluids and volumetric effects.
  • Multi-threaded displacement: Allows for the generation of details smaller than the grid’s cell size at render time, contributing to the overall detail and realism of the simulations.

Version 5 updates

Version 5.21:

  • Enhancements in Particle and Voxel Tuners: Includes distance measurement to nearest particle and particle count within a radius. It provides more control over particle systems, improving the quality of simulations.
  • Multi-particle emission: Ability for Sources to emit multiple types of particles simultaneously. This leads to more realistic and complex simulations.
  • Visualization of changed options in Phoenix Simulator.
  • Improved handling of emitter objects by multiple Sources.
  • User Interface enhancements, including color differentiation for changed values.

What’s new in version 5:

  • New tools that give you more control over active bodies. Thruster Force: set how active bodies interact with your scene. Axis Lock: lock active body movement and rotation to an axis.
  • New and enhanced presets. Easily create simulations and realistic dynamic effects. Use presets out-of-the-box or modify to fit your needs.
  • Shade faster using the Voxel Shader. Shade fire, smoke, and meshes all at once.
  • Phoenix Standalone Simulator. A new command-line tool that allows you to simulate Phoenix simscene files, outside 3ds Max or Maya themselves.
