PlaceMaker for SketchUp is an add-in that allows you to import site context into SketchUp model: high resolution aerials, 3D buildings, parametric 3D roads and walks, water bodies and trees. It will save you hours, if not days, of work and create instant cities from across the world. Locate your site and start importing. You can import everything to get your project started with rich context and detail. If you need to model city blocks of buildings, including all streets, sidewalks, buildings, water and trees, then you should try this app.

PlaceMaker enables you to add instant context to your models. It imports data from OpenStreeMap and transforms it into a usable site reference model suitable for rendering or exporting into other applications.

Note: You can download the extension for free using “Pay-As-You-Go” credit system. This license is a fully functional version of PlaceMaker but you will need to purchase Credits to import the data.

Features:

Import high resolution aerials. PlaceMaker currently offers two sources of aerials. Mapbox, which covers the entire planet. And Nearmap which offers super high-resolution aerials for the United States and Canada.
3D buildings. Insert 3D building massing models for select locations and cities.
3D roads and paths. Place 3D roads, walks, paths and water into your model. All objects are modeled and render ready.
Trees and forests. Import entire forests with one click and place on terrain.
Model on terrain. PlaceMaker will model and drape buildings, 3D roads and paths directly onto terrain.
Export to Revit. Use the Export to Revit function and import your model into Revit.
Instant site base. Create instant site base files to use for modeling, design and rendering.
Localized in 11 langauges. English, Brazilian Portuguese, Chinese Simplified, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Spanish.

What’s new in version 3.2.0:

Added Bluesky as a new imagery source covering the UK.
Removed ability to import historical Nearmap imagery. Now importing the most recent Nearmap imagery only.
Updated the license system.
