STAAD.Pro provides structural analysis and design for almost any type of structure; STAAD is an acronym for STructural, Analysis And Design. It can be used for different projects: towers, buildings, tunnels and culverts, plants, bridges, stadiums, highway structures, marine structures, etc. STAAD is used primarily for two basic purposes: the design purpose (by civil engineers) and research purposes (by students, teachers, research scholars).
STAAD.Pro helps you to create a model; then analyze that structure with respect to various conditions of load and support; and finally design that structure with different materials.
Besides STAAD.Pro there are also two other editions of the software: STAAD.Pro Advanced that offers additional advanced features, and Structural WorkSuite that is a a bundled package providing a comprehensive suite of structural analysis and design tools.
STAAD.Pro was originally developed by Research Engineers International in 1997 which was later acquired by Bentley Systems in 2005.

- Broad spectra of design codes. You can take STAAD.Pro to wherever your company works. Use steel, concrete, timber, and aluminum design codes from all around the world, including historical codes.
- Interoperability and open architecture. Import CAD models, create custom links and develop third-party applications. When integrated with Bentley’s project collaboration system ProjectWise, your STAAD.Pro models can be efficiently managed. By using the ISM integration, STAAD models become part of an integrated BIM workflow with products such as ProStructures, OpenBuildings Designer, Revit, and Tekla.
- Quality assurance. STAAD.Pro undergoes the most demanding quality and testing program.
