Primavera P6 is an Oracle’s project management software that can be used in 4D BIM workflows for construction sequencing. Primavera has been around since 1983 and was launched by Primavera Systems. In 2008 Oracle acquired Primavera Systems and added them to their suite of products.
Primavera P6 is part of Oracle / Primavera’s EPPM (Enterprise Project Portfolio Management) solution. The focus of the Primavera EPPM software is basically to allow organizations to manage their programs and projects effectively, regardless of the complexity or scale of their projects.
Software provides and end-to-end real-time visibility for all the corporate information that you would need to inform the upper management so that they can make good business decisions and get a grasp on their current resources and ensure that each individual project team has all of the resources and the information that they need on any particular project. So P6 isn’t just about scheduling, it really is about total project management solution whwre you can track anything down to a phone call.

- Download link redirects you to https://edelivery.oracle.com/osdc/faces/Home.jspx.
- Click “Create Account” to create your Oracle account. Sign in.
- You go to the Oracle Software Delivery Cloud.
- Search for “Primavera P6 Professional Project Management”.
- You need “DLP” which stands for “Download Package”. So click on “DLP: Primavera P6 Professional Project Management 21.12.0.0.0 ( Primavera P6 Professional Project Management )”. It is added to download queue.
- Click “View Items” in the upper right corner. Click “Continue”. Click “Continue” again. Accept licence agreement and click “Continue”.
- Click “Download” to download the entire package, or right click on “Primavera P6 Professional Applications” zip file, then “Save Link As” to save it to your local hard drive.
- Unzip file and start “P6ProfessionalSetup” exe file to install application.

About construction sequencing
A typical process of construction sequencing requires modeling software (like Revit), scheduling software (like Navisworks or Synchro 4D) and project management software (like Primavera P6 or MS Project). In typical workflow, you need to link 3D model (from Revit) and schedule data (from Primavera P6 or MS Project) into scheduling software; then link parts of the model to tasks in the schedule.
Navisworks includes Timeliner, a feature which allows you to import your schedule and add schedule simulation. Synchro 4D is made exclusively for 4D simulation and scheduling with live BIM data.
