Advance Steel is an Autodesk’s software for structural steel detailing that enables you to produce detail and fabrication drawings. Otherwise you would create these drawings manually. Built on the familiar AutoCAD platform, Advance Steel’s 3D modeling tools help you accelerate design and speed time to fabrication by automatically generating general arrangement and shop drawings, bills of material and DSTV CNC files.

Advance Steel also features interoperability with other Autodesk design and construction software, including a bidirectional integration and model synchronization with Autodesk Revit. This allows you to import 3D design models from the structural engineer as the starting point for your detailing effort.

A model-based steel detailing approach not only allows you to reduce the risk of potential errors when design changes occur, but all affected deliverables are also updated automatically, from shop drawings to NC data. This helps project teams streamline design-to-detailing workflows to increase the accuracy and predictability of fabrication and field installation.

Bidirectional link with Revit. Revit and Advance Steel can work together to provide a more seamless BIM workflow from design to fabrication.
Robot Structural Analysis interoperability. Optimize your structure with bidirectional links.
BIM coordination. Export steel members from a Revit model to Advance Steel, and XREF the rest of the project as a Coordination model through Navisworks.

What’s new in version 2023:

Modeless Document Manager. The Document Manager adopts a “modeless” behavior – it remains open on-screen and avaailable for use at any time during an Advance Steel session.
Bolt label leader improvements. Flexible labeling for bolt labels. Automatic leader line position for labels on bolts.
Grid display improvements. Grids can be made visible in a model view even when the grids are not actually enclosed in it. Control the display of grids on your drawings when using camera views generated from your model views.
Create beams from single segment polylines. Automatically convert single segment polylines to single straight or curved beams.
Independent grips for camera viewports. You can adjust each side of a camera’s viewport without affecting the other. Grips function independently.
Search queries in camera selection. Easier create 2D camera views from 3D models. New “Search Query” option that enables you to quickly select objects for inclusion in your camera views using one or more predefined queries from the Project Explorer.
