ProjectWise is a cloud-based software suite designed for the collaboration and content management of mid to large scale infrastructure projects. It helps the project teams of the AECO industry to share, publish and review engineering content with their globally distributed teams through a single platform. First released in 1997 by Bentley Systems, ProjectWise has evolved from an engineering document management application to an enterprise-scale, virtual and comprehensive project delivery solution. It can be used to easily manage different types of data such as CAD, geospatial data, project data, business documents and BIM data. It offers integration with Bentley applications and other products including Autodesk software (AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks), Microsoft software (Word, Excel, Project), and Primavera P6. The core capabilities provided by the platform include Design Integration, Deliverables Management, Engineering Content Management, Project Performance Dashboards and Field Mobile Applications.
Bentley has also introduced ProjectWise 365, a cloud-based SaaS solution enabling real-time collaboration within small to mid-size design firms that can be accessed via a standard web browser (Chrome/Firefox/Edge/Safari) from any device without the need of any additional client software.

- ProjectWise Share: Quickly and securely exchange files and create custom folder structures with access control rights. Multidisciplinary review and collaboration are available for PDF files with integrated issue resolution service.
- ProjectWise Issue Resolution: Create, track and manage all issues through a centralized repository by generating interactive dashboard reports. Issues Resolution service integrated with PDF review/markup tool to facilitate tracking of issue. Support for Bentley’s iTwin Design Review and Revit also available.
- ProjectWise Web Connections: Supports the editing of PDF and office files stored in the datasource and SharePoint pages/repository. The ProjectWise datasource can be accessed through ProjectWise Explorer or ProjectWise Web.
- ProjectWise Insights: Powerful interactive dashboards with data analytics service without separate PowerBI license. This helps in analysing project performance trends, bottlenecks and identify the root cause of issues.
Typical workflow:
- Create a Bentley cloud service profile (Bentley IMS) by visiting connect.bentley.com to access the ProjectWise data source. The same can be created by your organization’s Bentley SELECT administrator.
- Each user can set her own “user preferences”- a collection of settings unique to each user; and “User Rights” allowing different users to have different folder and document permissions. Different users can be grouped and separate user lists can be created for access control and mailing preferences.
- Create a new folder structure or import from the predefined project Templates.
- Create your project by establishing a repository your team will work and collaborate from.
- Invite team members and external participants.
